Almost 100%

I'm almost all the way better now, but still kind of out of sorts. I don't have a fever anymore, and I am getting my appetite back. But I still don't really feel like playing. When Mommy puts me down to play, I just want her to pick me back up. She let me stay home from school today so I can rest and get better quicker. Just in time for my dentist appointment on Thursday. :o)

I'm Not Feeling Well

Ugh, I have an ear infection. It's no fun. Mommy kept telling me not to stick my finger in my ear, but then when I got a fever, she knew I had an ear infection. Yesterday I slept almost all day. Daddy hung a sheet on my window so the sun would stay out of my room while I slept. I'm feeling much better today, but I still took a long nap, which is so not like me! Hopefully by tomorrow my fever will be totally gone. I've only had to take my fever medicine once today.

Also, in case you are thinking, "Wait, I thought Emily had ear tubes?!" I do, but they don't prevent ear infections. They just make it so my ears can drain if they do get infected. My nose is draining too, right into my belly. My tummy is not happy about that, and it keeps trying to get the yucky stuff out of there, but because of my surgery I had a long time ago, I can't throw up! Mommy and Daddy have been helping get it out through my feeding tube. I tell ya, my parents have to do some yucky things!

One Less Doctor

Today was my long awaited renal ultrasound and urologist visit for my horseshoe kidney. That was the very first "difference" Mommy and Daddy learned about when I was baking in her belly. They remember being just so devastated about it, and now it's like no big deal compared to everything else! Mommy says its funny how things change like that. Anyway, in case you don't remember, I have two kidneys and they have always functioned normally. I had a bunch of different tests done when I was a baby to be sure. My kidneys are different though, because they are stuck together at the top, so they make a horseshoe shape.

I had one more renal ultrasound today for final check up. It took a while to get the ultrasound completed, because Mommy and two nurses were holding me down while another did the ultrasound. I was kicking and screaming the whole time! Yanking on the cords and everything. Mommy warned them that when we were done they better let go and step back quickly. Good thing for them she did, because I sat up hitting, swinging, and scratching! But after all that, the doctor said that everything looked good! So now that I am a big girl and I still haven't had any problems, I don't have to go back to the urologist anymore! One specialist down, eight more to go!

I'm a Gym Kid Now!

Today was my first Gym Kids class! It was so much fun. I am going to go every Saturday with Mommy. My Aunt Tracie and cousin Rianne will be there too. They played music from the Wiggles, and we played musical instruments and sang songs. Then we got to play on all these great padded stairs, tunnels, and wedges. Lots of things to climb and I did so good! The ball pit was my favorite though. Mommy hung me upside-down and dunked me in there and it was the funniest thing ever! I laughed so hard!

I'm Doing Great

I had my surgery yesterday, thank you to everyone who was thinking about me. I did really well! Since my last surgery, the surgical floor has been remodeled, so it was much nicer and Mommy thinks that really helped. We had more privacy in the recovery area. Usually, I had to share one room with five other toddlers who were not happy about having surgery. So we were all screaming together and that made it hard to rest and get better. But now we had a quiet room all to ourselves. Mommy, Daddy, and Papa were waiting there with me when I woke up, so I already had a sleepy smile on my face. I was happy and resting quietly for about 30 minutes and then it was time for me to go home.

I hadn't moved around much before that, but I looked over to the corner of the room and guess what? There was a balloon! Can you believe it was there that whole time and I didn't know it? Well, right then I popped my head up, crawled over to Mommy, and used her to stand up. She thought I was snuggling on her, but she was wrong! Papa gave me my balloon then and I was squealing and laughing all the way to the car. I played hard the rest of the day and got a good night's sleep last night. So, everything is going just fine. Until Mommy has to put the ear drops in my ears. She better keep my nails trimmed or I'll give her more scratches to match the other ones! :o)

My Beautiful Eyes

I had a checkup with the eye doctor today. My eyes are still turning in, although they are alternating which means my brain is not favoring one eye over the other. That's good because it means my vision is developing equally in both eyes. But since I refuse to wear my glasses (I totally hate them), I peel the eye patches off my face, and Mommy is tired of dilating the weaker eye with eye drops (we've been doing it over a year now!), the doctor is recommending surgery. On my eye!!! Gross! Mommy and Daddy aren't happy about it, so no decision yet on what we will do. The doctor said it can wait if they need some time to think. Someone should ask me! I say, who cares if my eyes are a little scrambled? It makes the world look funnier!

Mommy Graduated!

I took Mommy to her graduation yesterday. Mommy thought she looked silly with the cap on. I thought so too, but I didn't tell her that. I did love her tassel and honor cords--they were cool! She should wear those every day! I played musical chairs among my family members during the ceremony, and I behaved pretty well. So Mommy was told. I had a couple of scratching/ hitting/ headbanging episodes. I even succeeded in getting the strangers around me, too!

I'm a Cowgirl, Baby!

Look at me! Last weekend I went to my Grandma Candy's house to visit. One time a couple of years ago, Daddy put me up on a horse, but I didn't like it too much. The horse never even got a chance to move. But this time, Daddy climbed up there with me. Mommy wouldn't--she was too scared. Grandpa Chuck said, "How can you be scared of horses but not of 20 third graders?!" Anyway, so I totally loved it! We walked around the yard and I was laughing so hard, I wasn't paying attention to breathing! Daddy had to stop and hold me for a minute so I would stop laughing and breathe again! Grandma Candy kept stopping the horse so she could make sure I was still happy. When she did that, I would rock back and forth and make that noise I make that means "Go go go!" Grandma Candy was so proud and very impressed. I even knew that I was supposed to hold the horn on the saddle. Of course, I blew spit bubbles on it too.

P.S. Today at school I ate all of my yogurt...most of you know that is a huge deal because for several months now I have only eaten for Mommy. Mommy was so proud of me, she was making a ton of phone calls on the way home! Yay for me! But don't expect it to happen on Thursday. I like to mix things up to keep people on their toes.
